Manchester Dragoneers Enjoy the Salford Dragon Boat Festival
Manchester Dragoneers had a fantastic weekend at the Salford Dragon Boat Festival in June 2026, with members enjoying two exciting days of racing.
On Saturday, the club competed in the festival’s small dragon boats—affectionately known as “tippy boats”—against corporate and university teams. It was a day full of fun, teamwork and great racing. A huge thank you to the Co-op for their generous financial support.
On Sunday, eight Manchester Dragoneers, including our fabulous helm, raced with breast cancer survivor crews from across the UK and Ireland as part of the Pink Piranhas in the British Dragon Boat Association event. It was an inspiring day, with plenty of competitive racing and wonderful camaraderie.
Everyone had an amazing weekend, enjoyed the thrill of racing and is already looking forward to returning next year!
November 2025 - Night Paddle
Manchester Dragoneers celebrated Halloween and Bonfire night in their own special way with a fantastic night paddle - with everyone glowing with fairy lights and the boats decorated, we lit up the calm waters of Debdale before returning to the clubhouse for soup, jacket potatoes and delicious homebaked cakes. It was a wonderful evening of beautiful lights and team camaraderie.

May 2025
We had a lot of "big" birthdays to celebrate this year - a 50th, six 60ths and a 70th so what better way to celebrate than to take to the water for the weekend! 26 of us headed to Llangollen for a fun filled time, kayaking across the Pontcysyllte aquaduct, white water rafting, walking, an amazing afternoon tea, fish and chips and perhaps a drink or two. Congratulations to all those celebrating big birthdays this year!

June 2025 - Flower ceremony
We had a beautiful morning for our traditional annual service of "dotting the eyes" and blessing of our two dragon boats attended by paddlers, friends and families. This was followed by our moving flower ceremony where prayers are said for those we have lost, for those currently fighting cancer, as well as a time for reflection and hope for the future whilst we hold pink flowers aloft before casting them into the water
